The Pace Of God…

I can’t think of one person who couldn’t benefit from the peace of God. The kind of peace that’s comforting, calming, and real despite health, wealth, trial, despair, victory, or pain.

Paul describes it well in Philippians 4:7

“ And God’s peace, which is so great we cannot understand it, will keep your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”

Recently I was challenged with benefiting from the peace of God that is associated with the pace of God.

The pace of God is inclusive of:

When He allows something.

When He releases the opportunity.

When He opens the door.

And so forth…

And how often our peace is undone and unraveled when the pace of God is not up to our standards and expectations.

Recently, I was found guilty as charged - I felt the pace of God was a bit inconvenient.

A COVID-19 scare, work challenges, a major house fiasco, and back-to-school adjustments were utterly unraveling my peace. With the events and chaos happening all at once, I had a lot of questions for God…

Lord, what is going on?

One day a chaotic moment in particular forced me to readjust my questions to something else instead.

Silence.

Not the kind of silence that blocked God out but actually let God in… No questions this time. Just “letting go,” the reading of my daily Bible scriptures, and reflecting.

And then suddenly I began to sense something really strong.

God was working and moving at His pace for a reason.

I was so busy becoming unraveled in my peace that I couldn’t see how the Master was literally desiring to “rebuild” other things in my life with His pace.

That silence was everything.

No, my life is not perfect. But the chaos brought about a beautiful existence I probably could not have fathomed otherwise – #Surrender.

Lamentations 3: 25- 26

“The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him; it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.”

Reflection question

What could the pace of God (His timing) be teaching you about the peace of God in your own life?
