Intimacy: Trusting God’s “Yes” (A Prayer)

So we’ve set our mind, heart, and soul on what God wants. We’ve sought the Lord and he has directed us to remain positioned and girded in the places he’s drawn us to. God’s “yes” has been the very thing we’ve needed because we’ve tried doing it “our way” without much success. Thank God for his mercy and loving redirection toward us!

And we can be sure that God’s “yes” in our lives will be opposed by the enemy of our soul – Satan – as he attempts to deter us from obeying and experiencing the peace that is generated from following the Lord’s plans for us. The evil one’s only mission in life is to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10) and his tactics and devices can often seem ruthless as he attempts to stir up confusion in what we believe to be God’s will. If we are not careful, we can be subject to the chaos of questioning whether we should stay on our God-designated path.

But may the scripture, Jeremiah 29:11, continuously settle our emotions as we adopt unwavering faith toward God’s “yes”

For I know the plans and thoughts that I have for you,” says the Lord, “plans for peace and well-being and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”

MY PRAYER

Lord, you are the God who knows everything – our beginning, middle, and end. You can be trusted and we declare that your “yes” is enough for us. You are not a source of confusion and we reject the things that attempt to deter our hearts away from what you have asked us to do. We don’t want to be people who are “double minded” but people who will undoubtedly display the evidence of obedience to your will.

We thank you for another chance as we dedicate our lives to joyfully pursuing the paths you have allowed. We dare not look back on the past as we accept the newness of an identity and purpose centered on you alone. Lord, we exalt you as the ONE who is able to hold our hand through every process, frustration, and tearful moment as we evolve into the people we were destined to be. You are our rock and firm foundation, Lord. You never change from being faithful to us.

In Jesus Christ’s name – Amen
